Million Twitter accounts hacked, claimed by a hacker. He is selling this information for 10 Bitcoins or approximately $5,800. Twitter account information seller Tessa88 is claiming that he has details of 379 million Twitter accounts. But this is more than the Twitter active user base of 310 million.
Leaked source provided the information on selling the account details. Leaked source is a security firm, which claims that after removing duplicate IDs, 32 million users credential is still available. The leaked information contains the username, email id, and plain text passwords.
Leaked Source also claims that the hacker did not obtain these user details by hacking the Twitter system. It was due to malware. Malware has hacked all details via the browser. Passwords are in general test which does not have hashing or encryption. It points out that the information not extracted from the Twitter system.
There is a response to media reports from Twitter. A spokesperson for this micro-blogging site spoke to Reuters India and said, “We want to assure you that username and password are safe.”
