The names of Indian Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, filmmaker Gautam Ghosh and Buddhadeb Dasgupta are among those 774 people who have been invited to be part of the Academy and vote for Oscars.
According to the website of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, people from 57 countries have been invited in 2017. Of these, 39 percent are women, and 30 percent are black people.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, Irrfan Khan, Deepika Padukone, Apparel Designer of Monsoon Wedding, Arjun Bhasin, writer Suni Taraporevala and Filmmaker Anand Patwardhan are among others who have been invited from India.
Academy President Sheryl Boone Isaac said in a statement: “We are proud to welcome the new class of the academy. Motion community is what we make it.
