Just before the Rio Olympic, there is good news for India. Indian Archer Deepika Kumari equals the Archer World Cup record in the in the recurve event of World Cup in Shanghai. She equaled the world record set in 2015 by Koren archer. In 2015, Deepika qualified for Rio Olympics.
In the Women’s recurve event, Deepika bagged 686 points out of 720. The previous world record was of the same point. Deepika is a resident of Jharkhand, India. Deepika equaled the World Record set in 2015 by South Korean Archer Ki Bo-Bae. Korean Archer Ki Bo-Bae, set the world record by breaking the 11-year-old World record in the recurve event. She made the history by breaking the world record of her own country’s archer Sung Hyun.
India’s Deepika missed the new world record by just one point. Because of the excellent performance of Deepika, India’s team managed to reach the top of mixed pair ranking. Other than Deepika, her partner Arun Das (12th ranking) scored 671 points. After the first round of the playoff, Indian team defeated Turkey with 5-3.
Deepika Kumari has recently awarded the Padma Shri
Deepika recently has been awarded Padma Shri by Indian Government. Before this, she has won the Silver medal in the individual event in Archery World Cup. In 2010 Commonwealth Games, she won the Gold medal in Individual and team recurve event and Bronze medal in 2010 Asian games.
World’s No. 1 Women Archer Deepika selected for world championship during his performance in Copenhagen world championship in individual and team event. She will play for India in the upcoming Rio Olympics.
