Gilgit Baltistan part of India’s Jammu Kashmir, illegally occcupied by Pakistan since 1947; CPEC forced and illegal Construction: British Parliament

A decision from the British parliament came as a shock to Pakistan after the British Parliament passed a motion saying the region of Gilgit-Baltistan is a part of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan to be occupying the territory illegally since 1947.

“Gilgit-Baltistan is a legal and constitutional part of the state of Jammu & Kashmir, India, which is illegally held by Pakistan since 1947, and where people are denied their fundamental rights including the right of freedom of expression,” the motion read.

Pakistan last week announced to make Gilgit Baltistan as its fifth province. Earlier Gilgit-Baltistan had their own elected chief minister. Pakistan announced this move because Gilgit-Baltistan lies in the route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

About the CPEC, British Parliament stated it as a ‘forced and illegal construction.’ Pakistan which aims to build the Corridor from Gwadar Port of South Western Pakistan to Xinjiang in far western China worth $54 Billion.

After the motion came, Pakistan is in a dilemma for its Economic Corridor where it aims to have rapid mass transitions with China. Now after the decision it will be interesting to see Pakistan’s move.

The motion also said that Pakistan’s announcement is a sign that it wants to create a sense of terror by making such an attempt into a region which is already under disputed area.
