Around 6000 Guest Teachers in Uttarakhand to lose their jobs after the Government ends their term on 31st March 2017. Guest Teachers were appointed in the High schools of Uttarakhand to fill the vacancies of teachers in the Government High Schools. But after their tenure ends on 31st March 2017 the Guest teachers who were educating the Children will become unemployed.
This case is, however, pending in the Nainital High Court which has already declared this decision as unconstitutional but is yet to give any result on this. Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, when appointed 6214 Guest teachers in the Government School across the state didn’t mention any tenure period of working for the Guest teachers.
The current Government is yet to take any action on this matter. After the decision had come, thousands of families of Guest teachers along with the teachers protested in front of the Chief Minister’s office. Their primary concern involves about jobs which they will loose after 31 March. They families also expressed their views and showed their anger saying that the most of the families will be facing troubles monetarily after the term ends.
The protesters demanded the withdrawal of the order. However, two panels of Judges are still thinking of it. After the tenure ends on 31st March, around 9000 vacancies will be created in the High Schools all across the state after teachers from High school and Inter Colleges will retire. It will be a wise decision for the government to think for both sides of the matter.
