An uneasy peace was observed on Saturday after the death of 36 people in the violence that took place after the Dera leader Ram Rahim was found guilty in the case of rape in Haryana. On one hand, the army, where the headquarters of the Dera chief was being evacuated. At the same time, there was a strong demand from around four to remove Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the failure to deal with the situation.

The headquarter of Dera Sacha Sauda, the city of Hisar, is surrounded by at least 8 troops of the army where thousands of devotees are hiding.
Maj Gen Rajpal Punia, Commanding Officer of Army’s 33 Division, after visiting Sirsa on Saturday, told the media that there is no plan to immediately enter the army camp campus.
He said that efforts are being made to calm the campus peacefully after talks with Dera management.
The 50-year-old Dera chief was convicted on Friday in the 2002 rape case. After that he was kept in custody in Rohtak jail.
A police source told “The government is helping the infamous Dera chief in every way, from the provision of special helicopter to police officers.”
Army is patrolling in many places in Haryana and Punjab, because about 250 followers have been injured in the Friday violence. On Saturday, the army patrol continued in the Malwa region and Panchkula and Sirsa towns of Punjab. Curfew continues in many districts of both the states.
State Chief Secretary D.S. Dhesi told reporters here that after getting the accused guilty in a court of Panchkula, two FIRs have been lodged in the case of mistreatment of a senior police officer while taking custody of the accused.
He said that one AK-47, one mouser gun, five pistols and two rifles were seized from two vehicles which were involved in the convoy coming from the Sirsa to Panchkula court of Dera chief.
Director General of Police B S Sandhu said that there was no reported incident of any violence in any part of the state including Panchkula on Saturday.
Dhesi denied that any special facility is being given to the accused chief in Rohtak jail for the accused convict.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court condemned the Chief Minister for giving ‘political protection’ to the Dera chief and ordered the government to file a case against those involved in Friday’s violence.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the BJP government in Haryana is being criticized on the issue of being soft on the dera chief. Opposition parties have demanded the removal of the Khattar government.
But BJP sources say the party’s top leadership is not going to take any action in the hurry on Khattar. He said that this matter will be discussed only after the case is cold.
It is worth mentioning that so far 36 people have died in the violence. Out of these, 30 deaths were reported in Panchkula and six died in Sirsa.
