International Women’s Day 2017 is celebrated all across the world on 8 March. The day is celebrated to mark the impulsive presence of women in the society and ensure equality and empowerment in the society. Gone are days where the majority of women’s percentage were restricted to the essential amenities and rights. The time has changed, and women can be seen embracing each bit and section’s of society influentially. With the advent of technology, this infectious issue of gender discrimination abolished to a much extent.
Now the time has come, where the other gender is seen dominating the priority sex in every field. From tough tasks to soft skills, she is everywhere leaving her mark magnificently. To celebrate the day of women empowerment, events all across the nation has been playing out. From shopping to dining or honoring the remarkable, the day has been planned by every major and minor sector to make them feel special not only on this day but also to make them feel special throughout the year as well.
To mark their strong presence and celebrate the day in a bold and efficient manner, around 800 women took part in a rally with 260 freshly painted cars and decorated with themes such as new 2000 rupees note, and attractive decorations set off on their 150 kilometers quest for glory from Hotel Sahara in Mumbai. The cars were painted with slogans such as, ‘To Hell with Sugar and Spice,’ ‘One girl with courage is a revolution’ and ‘We are all about talent, commitment, guts, toughness.’ The quest glory named ‘Women’s Rally to Valley’ was organized by Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) which collaborated with Aamby Valley and JK Tyres. The quest started from Hotel Sahara which through Worli Sea Face, Peddar Road, Girgaum Chowpatty, Marine Drive, Churchgate concluding at Aamby Valley.
Telecom company Vodafone too announced a special offer to celebrate International women’s Day 2017. Vodafone announced free 2 GB 3G/4G data to the women customers having a postpaid connection. The information about this service will be given through a message where the women customers can get 2 GB free data for the whole day. However, Vodafone has been this offer exclusively for women in Delhi NCR. Vodafone said that the sole motto of this proposal was to promote company’s scheme of #ConnectSheCan whose main motto was to connect women to the world digitally. The telecom giant promoted women empowerment, health, and wellness of women and gender equality through their campaign. Vodafone also launched their book ‘Women Of Pure Wonder’ which have inspirational stories of women from all around the world.
