IRCTC website hacked, Personal data of millions of customer stolen

According to the reports, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) e-ticketing website has been hacked by anonymous. Personal data of customers of more than one crore stolen from the server. The trouble is not only for IRCTC rather it can cause problems regarding safety and security. Maharashtra Government has issued an alert.

On Wednesday, State’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) KP Bakshi said, IRCTC e-ticketing website has been hacked. IRCTC and Railway Board have issued an alert. It is also being said that the Maharashtra government has identified the hackers.

Hackers can misuse the stolen data. India’s largest e-commerce website conducts millions of transactions every day. Sites contain crucial information like Pan Card and Aadhar Card details of the customer. According to the Senior Railway officer – anyone can create fake documents on the basis stolen data.

Railway has denied the reports of IRCTC website hacked. IRCTC CMD AK Manocha said, ‘Website not hacked.’ However, regarding the data theft, we will be only able to say only after investigation.

Anyone can fetch the information which is being reported to be stolen through PNR status. We would like to tell you that every day more than 3-4 crore people check their PNR status through this website. It is being understood that the personal data of railway passengers is being sent to online marketing companies. Subsequently, Railway Committee called a meeting on Wednesday and formed an inquiry committee.

Last month, Railway suffered the loss of millions when IRCTC website hacked by a Class 12th student, later he was arrested by CBI. The name of hacker is Hamid, and he is studying in Class 12th. He was associated with ticket touting. According to the reports, it only takes 30 seconds for Hamid to hack the IRCTC website and fetch the cards. By this way was warning millions. When the raid was conducted, police found ten laptops, 16 ATM cards and 2 Pan Cards from his house.
