JNU Politics Row: From organizing an anti-national event to growing intense
The Jawaharlal Nehru University witness an unprecedented scene. A group of a left-oriented college student in the name of cultural evening gathered to rail against what they call “Judicial Killing of Afzal Guru”, the man sentenced by the highest court in the land to hang for his row in plotting the attack on India’s parliament.
In the course of this protest, Afzal Guru elevated to the level of a martyr, and the anti-India slogans were chanted. Here are some posters which were put out during this gathering.
On the sidelines of this protest photo exhibition portraying the history of “occupation” of Kashmir.
Soon after the rally was disrupted and police took the control of situation. The “Pro Afzal gang” then went to complain rather incredulously, that the BJP was washing their democratic right to descent.
A war of words has followed with many asking whether students should be promoting sedition in the name of democracy. Others who are more concerned with the law of the land asking, whether students are in contempt of the Supreme Court when they describe the verdict in the Afzal Guru case of the Judicial Killing.
