Naam Shabana starting Taapsee Pannu in a lead role is a prequel to Akshay Kumar’s Baby released in 2015. Naam shabana is directed by Shivam Nair and produced by Neeraj Pandey and Shital Bhatia who gave superhits like, ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Special 26’, ‘Baby’ under the Friday Filmworks banner. Naam Shabana is a prequel to ‘Baby’ which tracks her story back down the line from an ordinary girl becoming a RAW agent.
The film casts Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manoj Bajpayee and Anupam Kher in the ipmortant roles. Akshay Kumar will be reprising his character as Ajay Singh Rajput with a special appearance. Taapsee Pannu said about her character in the film, “When Baby happened, I was a back door entry in the film. I literally forced myself into the film. And post that, I guess, the response towards my character was so good, the audience didn’t expect me to do something like that. The response that my character received made the filmmakers plan an entire film based on Shabana aka Meera. Frankly, there was no sequel or prequel. This move shows how audience’s reaction can affect the filmmakers,” the actor said.
The trailer shows the story of an ordinary girl being tracked by a special agent force who helps her taking her revenge by providing her high end training in martial arts and self defense. With this special force, lead by Manoj Bajpayee, Shabana is seen performing special tasks. The trailer itself gives a nail biting experience after which we surely look forward for the movie.
Naam Shabana releases on 31st March, 2017.
