Pakistan to make Giligit Baltistan its fifth province from undivided Jammu Kashmir to give way to China Pakistan Economical Corridor!!

Pakistan is again ready to make a move which will give a wave of tensions in India. Pakistan has declared to make Gilgit as its fifth province. Pakistan Gilgit Baltistan which lies in the disputed region of undivided Jammu and Kashmir lying in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) region. Pakistan Gilgit-Baltistan is having is own electoral assembly and has its own Chief Minister. Location of Gilgit, Baltistan is controversial as it shares borders from all around with controversial regions.

Gilgit-Baltistan shares its borders with the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the west, Azad Kashmir to the southwest, Wakhan Corridor of Afghanistan to the northwest, the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China to the north, and the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir to the southeast. Making Gilgit as its fifth province will raise tension in Indian soil as it will make easier access to the Indian soil for implanting terror in their surrounding neighboring regions. Already the area is highly controversial and intensively mounted with pressures from all around. Amidst all these tensions, Pakistan’s declaration to make it a province has created sparks of tension between the two nations.

Pakistan’s minister for inter-provincial coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada has told Geo TV that we formed a committee, headed by an advisor of foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz, had proposed giving the status of a province to Gilgit-Baltistan. “The committee recommended that Gilgit-Baltistan should be a region of Pakistan,” Pirzada said on Wednesday.

He also declared that a constitutional amendment would be made which will change that status of the region keeping in mind the USD 46 Billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC). CPEC which passes through this region is a matter of concern for Indian officials, as it can give rise to anti-national activities from across the border. According to reports, China’s concern over Gilgit’s province status made Pakistan to make a historic move for the region. India which sees Gilgit as an entire part of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan sees it as a different region of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The decision due to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has made the Indian Officials rethink about the province issues.
