“All women are same, all men are same is a stupid idea.” -Sadhguru
Sadhguru has been addressing all sorts of questions from people all around the world. There has literally been no social topic that Sadhguru has not talked about. There have also been several occasions when Sadhguru has been confronted with concerns about feminism and women’s rights. This article features views of Sadhguru on the same. But before that, let’s look into the current state of feminism.
What is the true definition of Feminism?
Wikipedia defines feminism as, “Feminism is a range of social movements, political movements, and ideologies that aim to define and establish the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes.”
Feminism was never a question of superiority, it has always been about equality. The movement of feminism had no intent of making a society totally governed by women but to bring all people to a mutual understanding that all genders deserve equal treatment in all fields. Until very recently when a new form of feminism emerged which is aptly termed as pseudofeminism. Pseudo-feminists are considered to be a set of people who believe they are feminists but they have no intention of promoting equality, rather, they demand superiority of women over the other sex.
Sadhguru has given a brilliant explanation of what feminism should really stand for. Let’s look into what he has to say on the subject.
Sadhguru was asked a question which was, “Lots have been spoken or debated about feminism. Girls are doing different things in the name of feminism. Is there any meaning to it or are we fighting a non-existing idea?”
Sadhguru answered, “See, there is a meaning to equal opportunity to all human beings, you should not even consider their gender.” Sadhguru explained this by saying that in order to fight a battle, we don’t need to reverse it as it will indeed bring one kind of injustice. By this what he meant to say was, in order to serve women the rights, we don’t need to discourage the rights of the men. Rather, we need to take a step towards an equal space for both the genders. And at the end of the day, this is what feminism stands for.
Sadhguru also stated that some women are always fighting to become more like men and that they must always act in a certain manner because they mistakenly believe that their success would be measured by their ability to make more money than any man.
In another one of his talks, Sadhguru said, “If you make economics the only value of your life, money is the only prime value in your life then the world will become very MALE because there will be no room for the feminine to find expression. There may be women but they will surrender their feminine to be successful, unfortunately. This should not happen.” “WOMEN SHOULD SUCCEED AS WOMEN NOT AS MEN” Sadhguru added. The audience appreciated the brilliant explanation by Sadhguru.
